What to Wear for Your Fall Family Photoshoot | Seattle Family Photographer

If you’re asking yourself, “What should we wear for our Fall Family Photoshoot?” I can help!

Above, I have compiled a few looks for mom. All Emily Ann Photography clients receive a wardrobe guide and I’ll give you the Cliff Notes! When dressing the whole family, look to coordinate in a similar color palette (rather than all matching). Sticking to muted/earth tones is my favorite – especially for fall! In addition to your color palette, consider the fit, pattern, and texture of your clothing. First of all, you want something that is flattering as well as something easy to move, play, sit, and twirl in! If you’re new around here, I’ll just let you know that I’m a big fan of mama’s in a dress. I love dresses because they are easier to hide flaws (that we all have) and the texture/movement in a flowy dress photographs beautifully! Avoid tight and short clothing! Secondly, look for interesting textures and details in your clothing. Flutter sleeves, lace, fun buttons are just a few things to look for.

My favorite shops for mom are: Anthropologie, Baltic Born, Bohme, Roolee, Nothing Fits ButOld Navy, Amazon and Nordstrom to name a few.

The same rules apply for kids and dads! Color palette, comfort, texture & details. Don’t be afraid to mix and match patterns within the family!

Favorite stores for littles: Zara, Old Navy, Roolee, Nothing Fits But, JCrew, Mini Boden, Target, H&M, and Amazon.

I encourage my clients to text me pictures of their outfits all together if they’re looking for feedback or suggestions. The outfits you choose to wear is just a piece of the puzzle to creating beautiful art with your photographer! (And this family nailed it):

Now that you’ve got the outfits, sign up for a session with Emily Ann Photography!
