Kid Friendly Indoor Activities

Some days, the weather isn’t great and we end up cooped up indoors, bored or on devices racking up screen time. If you find yourself in a similar situation, don’t sweat it! We’re so fortunate to live in a great city with no shortage of fun things to do for families. Looking for kid-friendly, indoor activities in the Seattle area? Here are my top five:

1) MoPOP

Museums are a go-to choice during long indoor days! What could be better than curing cabin fever and learning something new at the same time?! Luckily Seattle has many great museums at your disposal.

The Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) however, is unlike any other in the area. Perfect for budding musicians and future rockstars, this museum boasts exhibits dedicated to hip-hop, grunge, guitar legend Jimmy Hendrix, Guitars, and even a Science Fiction exhibit. MoPOP also features movies, programs for children who are homeschooling, summer camps and sensory-friendly days for sensitive kids.

2) Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium

If you have animal loving kids, there are several great indoor aquariums and zoos in the Seattle area. Granted, Point Defiance has some outdoor play areas and animal encounters, but what makes Point Defiance special is its two indoor aquariums, one of which is35,000 square feet– that’s TONS of room for kids to run and explore. If you’ve ever wanted to spend a night at the Zoo, they also offer overnight experiences!

3) Wiggleworks Kids

Rambunctious kids? There’s a lot of good options for indoor play in the area! WiggleWorks is great for younger kids (under 48” tall, to be exact), and offers two locations. One in Puyallup and the other in Bellevue. The soft indoor moving playscape offers a safe way for kids to play while enriching their flexibility, coordination, balance, strength, agility and gross motor skills, and of course, allows them to socialize. There’s a seating area for parents to supervise while getting a much needed break 😉
