For those of you who are expecting a new baby you may have considered booking a photographer to capture their newborn sweetness. After a little research you may see the price, start thinking about getting everything “ready” (baby, house, YOU) shortly after giving birth and start to ask yourself, Is Newborn Photography Worth It? Well I’m here to tell you why I think it is important and then you can decide for yourself!
I very rarely hear people say, “I just wish I didn’t have so many pictures of my kids.” Or, “I wish I had less pictures of my siblings when we were growing up.” No! If you love someone you want as many physical memories of them as possible! We might think we had less photos on our digital devices to sort through but that is a whole other topic for another time!
Having a baby is HARD. Your body has been through the ringer, you’re trying to take care of yourself and your new baby on very little sleep! That first month goes by in a blur of diapers, spit up, and cuddles. Trust me when I say you will want all of the physical memories of those first few weeks when they were so tiny! Their tiny little feet, sweet little ears, nose, hands, bellies, and scrumptious little cheeks. You’ll want it all!
You can and most certainly will but you also need to get in the frame! If you are booking a newborn session with me, you’ll also get beautiful images of you and your partner bonding with your new baby. I really focus on the connection and love between a growing family and that is something you will never be able to capture yourself! If you’re thinking “But I just gave birth, I look and feel horrible” I’m here to tell you that the radiance of a new mama’s love outshines tired eyes and bloated bodies EVERY TIME! You are gorgeous no matter what you think and a good photographer will be able to convey that beauty through artful poses and making you feel comfortable enough to shine!
When you choose to hire a photographer whose work you love, you are not only going to have beautiful photos of your baby and family but you will have gorgeous art to adorn the walls and bookshelves of your home. Think of it like commissioning a custom painting for your home! Sure, you could take some snapshots yourself but will you want to hang those on your walls?
I promise you, it will be worth the extra time and effort it takes to put on a nice outfit, the time it takes to get your toddler ready, and the impossibility of making your home presentable. It will be half a day spent for a lifetime of the sweetest memories!
