Below are four tips that you can use to conquer your upcoming senior photo session with Emily Ann Photography – your Seattle, Shoreline, and Edmonds senior photographer!

1. Be as comfortable as possible.

Take the time to pick your outfits that not only suits the purpose of the photo session but one that you feel completely comfortable in too. Wear a color that you love and get your hair and makeup done to give you that extra boost of confidence. I always recommend a “dress up” as well as a more casual look. A full senior session with Emily Ann Photography allows for at least one outfit change.

2. Practice really does help.

Stand in front of a mirror and strike a few poses, get comfortable with your body and your smile. Once you’re feeling better about how you look, use your smartphone or camera to snap a few shots of yourself to see which angles and poses work best. Once you’re at the shoot, I will direct you in poses that will be the most flattering, fun and add variety to your gallery.

3. Why are you doing this?

Sometimes focusing on the camera and the person taking the photos is enough to put anyone off, instead rather focus on why you’re doing this shoot in the first place. You are CELEBRATING the HUGE accomplishment of completing 12 years of school! These photos will be treasured heirlooms of this time and place in your life. More importantly, these photos are for your parents, your family, and everyone who helped you get to where you are today! If nothing else, do it for them!

4. Bring along a friend or the whole family if you think that will make you more comfortable!

I give a discounted rate for a double-senior session. So grab your best friend or in this case – TWIN and make a fun evening of it! I also LOVE to include parents or the whole family for a few sweet moments too. A lot of times your friends/family will make you laugh and illicit some authentic smiles and moments.
